Malinga unable to participate in T-20 World Cup

Why was I selected?....

I can't play in the World Cup! ...

-- grumbles Malinga who goes to India

Former T - 20 Captain Lasith Malinga of the Sri Lankan Cricket team had to proceed to India yesterday (14) early morning to participate in the World Cup even though he was not fit enough, because the Selection Committee had nominated him. While he is presently suffering from a knee-injury, his participation in the competition is in suspense. Whatever it is, after Malinga set off to India
what he grumbled and said was that he is not in a position to play. Malinga who is in a disturbed frame of mind for having been removed from the position of Captaincy had expressed his ideas in the following manner:

"I haven't totally recovered from my ailing condition. I don't understand why an ailing person like me has been included in the team. I came because the Selection Committee asked me to go for the World Cup. Even after the first match of the Asian Cup I asked that another player be replaced on behalf of me. But it was not done. What I think is that it would be better if a young player be given an opportunity in the pool without a person like me with a broken leg. Within the space of just a few hours the team underwent a change. After sleeping and when I got up in the morning a Selection Committee had been appointed and a team had been named with my name there. I think that I won't be able to play in the IPL Tournament. There's about 2 months more. So I'll try to play at least in the last two or three games. Whatever I do ... the public sees it always as wrong. I can't help it".
