The Chairman of Geological survey & Mines bureau DODMK Dissanayake has added that the explosion of the Kurunegala Ethugala rock was only a natural phenomenon and there would have
no after affects.

The news of the bursting of the Kurunegala Ethugala rock was reported on the 19th night the Chairman of the Geological survey & Mines bureau confirmed that it was only a natural phenomenon and had this to say further:

"This is not an incident that should be subjected to any inspection.During the past there were heavy rains which was then followed by very dry weather.This is a natural incident which occurs.This is termed diffusion.This is a typical natural phenomenon.However scientists would be sent to Ethugala to investigate".

However on the 20th instant the Director of the National building research organisation and landslide risk management division RMS Bandara after an inspection had come to an conclusion that the Ethugala rock had burst owing to intense prevailing heat with high temperatures around 34 degrees Celsius.

Hence this situation is not serious and no one should panic.
