Paternal leave to be introduced to Sri Lanka 

Up to now  every  working mother in Sri Lanka  is entitled for 3months ,six months or one year maternity leave with pay or sans pay after child birth. But unfortunately the husband is granted only 03 days leave after the wife's confinement.

But however in developed countries the father is also given paternal eave for 3 months, 06 months leave with pay as they are concerned  considering about the growth of the new born baby.

At a media briefing held on the 22nd instant the chairman of the child protection force Natasha Balendra had said that the number of days leave granted to the father after child birth is barely insufficient and in this regard a bill is to be formulated to be approved by the government in order to grant leave to every father after child birth similar to the paternal leave  scheme granted in developed countries.
