Rs billion 500 vanishes from the coffers at SLC
The administrators of the interim committee appointed to the Sri Lanka Cricket have revealed that a sum of rupees Billion 500 had vanished from the coffers. All details of the transactions and the related CD's which had
contained the details of these payments fro the past five years also have vanished from the office of the Sri Lanka cricket.
In this connection it is reliably reported that this matter had been reported to the auditor general to carry out an investigation shortly.
It is also reported that for an expense incurred amounting to Rs 60 million by the SLC for the purchase of pitch covers during the period of the administration of the SLC by the interim committee recently are also to be investigated by the auditor general with transparency
It is reported that from the time of the world cup 2011 up to the taking over by the interim committee appointed to the SLC a sum of Rs 5000 million ( Rs 50000 lakhs) is to be investigated by eh Financial Frauds Investigation Unit shortly.
It is also reported after hosting the world cup 2011 the Sri Lanka Cricket has got indebted by a sum of Rs 500 million and after the interim committee took over a further sum of Rs million 600 has been indebted. All these expenses are to be investigated.
During the period of the interim committee administration a sum of Rs 240 million had been spent on constructing practice pitches and a sim of Rs 148 million had been spent as expenses on organising the provincial tournament are also been investigated. These payments had caused a further financial crisis to the SLC. It is reported that legal action against these transactions cannot be initiated.This had been a conflict situation it is reported.
It is also learnt that the SLC owes a sum of nearly rupees one billion to the State Engineering Corporation and Bank of Ceylon.
There is another investigation in regard to contracts signed by the interim committee for the next two to three years.A conflict and crisis situation had arisen as for these contracts signed the interim committee are not valid. Investigations also had begun to conduct into these contracts signed.
