Investigations reveal the lies told by police ....
in relation to Embilipitiya youth who died!
Though the police said that they visited the party-location where the joy of celebrating the
occasion of a puberty of a girl only after the 119 Emergency Unit and the Embilipitiya Police received a telephone call from the neighbourhood because of the din created at the said party, what has now come to light is that the telephone calls had originated from the mobile phone of a police officer himself, according to investigations that have been carried out.
The referred to calls had originated from a police officer from among the four police officers who had gone to the house where the party was going on and it has been revealed that the conflict had arisen at the point where they had demanded two bottles of arak. Police information sources record that it has become evident from investigations conducted that it was after the call from the mobile phone of the said police officer given to the telephone of Embilipitiya Police he had behaved in an unruly manner by demanding arrak bottles from the house concerned.
According to what has been revealed from primary investigations carried out so far is that the police officers of Embilipitiya Police had approached the house where the celebrations were going on, at a time when the police had received no telephone call or complaint, police sources admitted. Police sources further reveal that after the police officer who was in the group of police officers responsible for the conflict which resulted after demanding the bottles of alcohol and was also alleged to have given that call to the police, the Deputy Inspector General of Police and the Headquarter's Officer-in-Charge and his team had visited the place where the party was in progress and had begun assaulting.
Though the police officially announced that a police officer clad in uniform was kept imprisoned in the house where the party was going on and he had entered that building with the motive of rescuing him, police sources further reveal from investigations that there was no officer confined in that manner and that uniformed-officers were in fact standing on the main road.
