For the vacancy created by MKDS, Ervine, Krishantha and Rosy vie 

Political information reveal that for the vacancy created by the demise of the national list Member Minister MKDS Gunawardena there are three eligible persons who are vying. They

are Ervine Weerakkody ,Krishantha Cooray and  former Member of Parliament Rosy Senanayake.

Ervine Weerakkody ia a reputed  businessman in the advertising field and all the advertising work during the concluded general election had revolved around via his advertising company. He had been a nominee in the UNP 's national list.  Krishantha Cooray also had been in the forefront of the UNP's media unit been as the head and his name too had been nominated to the names in  the national list. While the other person vying is former Member of Parliament Rosy Senanayake who narrowly missed entering the parliament via the UNP Colombo district .

It is reported that a final decision would be made by the Prime Minister  Ranil Wickremasinghe upon returning from his official visit to Switzerland.
