Elephant  transported in a lorry had  got agitated and run away  seen a Perahera

A rare incident involving an Elephant who had got agitated when she was taken from a Ruwanwella devale to Avissawela in a lorry near Talduwa junction. At the Talduwa junction this lorry transporting the Elephant had confronted a Hindu procession. For the various sounds that were heard

from this procession the Elephant had got very agitated. The noises of sound had come from the Kavadi dancers and drum beaters. The Elephant had jumped from the lorry and run away about two kilometres along the road.

The Police had come forward to rescue the Elephant along with two Elephant keepers. They had been able to calm down the Elephant.It is reported that no one had been hurt and no damage to any property.But the Elephant had suffered some injuries to the legs  sustained while jumping out of the lorry.The Elephant is been treated for these minor injuries.
