CCTV evidence relating to Embilipitiya incident

An owner of a rice warehouse close to where the murder-incident of Sumith Prasanna of Embilipitiya took place and which created an uproar was forwarded to the media in CCTV footage form by this owner. The latter who even provided evidence to the police too in this context says that it is police
officers and Sumith and those friends who are portrayed in that CCTV footage.

What those viewing the said video see is that on the road in front of the house where the puberty-attaining celebrations were held, a group of people suspected to be police officers are involved in a scene of fisticuffs with a youth. One person assaulting him with a baton also is to be seen in the video. Later friends of that youth also come there. But in a few minutes everybody is seen to get up from there and leave the place.

Though this video does not provide strong evidence in relation to the incident, it of course confirms that a crowd did engage in a fight at that location. The young man of Embilipitiya was said to have died as a result of being pushed down from a top-floor.
