Tribute to CTB driver and conductor who handed over 14 lakhs ....

to passenger who forgot in the bus!

A story was heard from a Panadura - Kandy CTB
bus the type of which could not be heard about these days among people who 'fly behind money'.

A passenger who travelled in this CTB bus recently had forgotten and left behind a bag containing Rs. fourteen and a half lakhs and the driver and conductor on reaching the destination had noticed that someone had forgotten and left behind a bag. On inspecting it they had found that a large sum of money was inside it. The two of them on seeing this bundle of money instead of thinking of sharing the money had stood steadfast on the decision that the owner of the money should be found and the money be handed over to the owner.

They had then managed to get at the owner after perusing some documents inside the bag and come across a certain address and thereafter they informed the owner about it and had thus finally taken action to hand over the bag containing the money to its rightful owner. The Minister of Transport Nimal Siripala de Silva having appreciated this magnanimous gesture which most people these days could just not expect from most people got down the driver and conductor to the Ministry and had given a special gift to them and valued their action. It was driver Dhammika Thushara and conductor Lahiru Dilshan who served at Katubedda Depot who were involved in this benevolent deed.
