The work in the much debated Colombo Port City project to recommence

During the time of the campaign for the presidential election almost one year ago a huge voice was raised that the Port City project

 undertaken by the Chinese government would be stopped as it has not received clearance from interim environmental hazards .Accordingly the  work in the port city project was brought to a standstill pending the receipt the interim environmental reports.

It is almost one year since the work in the Chinese port city project was interrupted by the new government and since then the interim environmental reports had been made and these reports are to be tabled before the cabinet minsters to obtain approval to recommence the Colombo port city project.

The work in the Colombo port city project is likely to commence in January next year. After completion of the work it would be the hub in South Asia for tourism and a base for investment promotion for the benefit of the country.
