The incident which created a big sensation during the past was the incident of an anti-government conspiracy which had taken place early morning on the following day of the

Presidential Election. There were numerous rumours that the election results issued on that day were false and that an attempt was launched to get hold of State-power.

What is reported by now is that police investigations in respect of this has come to a close and the outcome has been forwarded for instructions of the Attorney-General. Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka has informed parliament about this yesterday (14). The Minister who answered a question raised by MP Dallas Alahapperuma mentioned this matter and that further action would be taken in this connection. Though nothing was reported about the contents of that report, no information to the effect that a conspiracy had taken place at Temple Trees on the following day of the Presidential Election could be logically proved has been revealed, political sources say.
