Story about my new political Party ....
a fake, coined to sell newspapers
- Mahinda
It was the Island Newspaper that initially revealed that the Party 'Ape Sri Lanka Nidahas Peramuna' was to be established by former
President Mahinda Rajapaksa together with Wimal, Vasu and Dinesh. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had expressed ideas at a meeting conducted at Horagasmandiya, Urubokka saying that that story was false and that it was made up with the motive of selling the newspapers.
This is what he said: "I don't know about a new political Party. They write something to get their newspapers sold. According to the environment we see now, we can't say that Parties will not sprout. If chased from Parties .... those people must have a place to go to. Then Parties are formed .... then new Parties may be born. The government is carrying on jointly. If that government is to be shown the correct path, there must be a strong Opposition. If a government is being carried on without a strong Opposition, that government will be moving astray. That's what was seen from this time's budget. As such, everyone has the responsibility to form a strong Opposition. I don't know who will join the government in the future".
