Ailing mother kept abandoned in a hut ,eight children have fled

The Warakapola Police had been able to discover a very pathetic incident when they had been able

to locate a 88 year old ailing mother of 08 children who had been left abandoned in a hut. The Police had taken steps to admit her to the Warakapola hospital for treatment. She had been found in the Warakapola police division Dorawaka Udabage area.The name had been found by the police as Ukkuamma.

The  88 year old is a mother of five boys and three daughters.When she was located it was found one hand was having a serious ailment and she had been placed in a small scaffold and left her abandoned in a small hut. It had been reported that this aged mother has had no meals for a few days and all her clothes were so dirty that even if they were put to a fire they could not be burnt.

although there had been several houses in the vicinity and neighbourhood no one had cared to look in to her needs until the police had arrived to take for treatment to hospital.

The Police officers had been sent to this spot after a telephone call was received by the  Officer in Charge of the Warakapola Police station SH.Janakanatha.He had instructed police constables Prasanna and Chandana bearing police numbers 74407 and 72379 respectively to investigate and take necessary action.

The two police constables had acted in a way to be an example to many children.The sick mother who could not read and write was lifted very carefully with affection thinking of their own mothers and taken to the Warakapola hospital.

The Warakapola police officers are now making efforts to trace the children of the aging mothe and in this connections they have commenced investigations.
