Investigations into the sudden death of Korean lion ....
brought to Ridiyagama Safari Park
Two lions were brought from South Korea for
the safari park which is being newly erected in Ambalanthota, Ruhunu Ridiyagama and one of those lions had passed away day-before-yesterday (04) all of a sudden, it was reported.
The sudden death of this lion called Wally aged about 5 years and with a height of approximately 5 feet was supposed to have been caused by a serpent bite; but the real reason as to why the lion died has still not been unravelled. Lions are not caged in the safari park as such and space has been allocated to them within a specific area in the jungle where they could roam about. Since two lions were brought from South Korea and one of them, Wally it is who had died, it is only just one lion that is left behind out of the two.
What attendants who expressed their ideas about the unanticipated death of Wally say that until its death it was in excellent health. In order to investigate the reason for this sudden death, its body was handed over to the veterinary surgeon of the University of Peradeniya that very day itself. Results of the examination has still not been revealed.
