Dengue mosquito raises head again stay vigilant until end January
Addressing a media conference Dr Paba Palihawadena the Director of the Epidemiology unit of the Ministry of health and Chief Epidemiologist had said that the dengue mosquito has raised head again and as in previous years and in the second quarter of the season between November,December and January quarter it would have the same affect on the population as before.
In the year 2015 to date there had been 276967 cases of dengue reported put of which there had been 54 deaths. The most number of cases reported and the deaths have been from Colombo.Dr Paba Palihawadena had said that number in Colombo comprises 50% of the cases thus reported. It was also reported by her that in Municipal areas alone there has been a 30% of this number.
Dr Paba Palihawardena had advised all those who acquire temperatures which remain for more than two days to have blood tests in order to ascertain whether or not should be treated for dengue.In that event treatment could be given before the conditions aggravate.
