Dr Nilanga penalised, new Chairman appointed to dangerous drugs board

Professor Ravindra Fernando has been appointed as the new Chairman of the National dangerous
drugs control board which was subjected to some controversy recently.

The former Chairman of the National dangerous drug control board Dr Nilanga Samarasinghe has quietly left his post it is reported.This National dangerous drug control board is under the purview of the Ministry of Law and Order.The previous Minister Tilak Marapona after the controversy that unfolded had sent a retired deputy Inspector General of Police HM. Sirisena to succeed Dr Nilanga Samarasinghe as the Chairman of the board.

When this matter was informed to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe within a few weeks Professor Ravindra Fernando has been appointed as the new Chairman of the board by the Ministry of Law and Order.
