Saman Jayalath, Kondaya's elder brother, the newest suspect produced to Minuwangoda Courts today in relation to the murder of Seya Sandewmi had given a statement within limits of Minuwangoda Magistrates Courts Chambers for a period of about 2 hours with reference to that murder. On a special request made by the suspect, the context of what he said is known only to the magistrate

. After the statement was given, Saman Jayalath was ordered to be remanded until 19th of this month.

Kondaya's brother Saman is passing his 36th year. It has been revealed that the woman he married earlier had gone overseas and that the woman he married later had left him and is living separately. At the time he was taken into custody, it came to be known that he had been working at a brick kiln in Lihiniyagama. It was revealed that Saman too had got into the association of having illicit alliances with other women in the face of his unsuccessful marriage and the pressure that resulted as its consequences which lured him to become a person who showed a desperate desire for distorted sexual relationships. He too had been jailed for a period of close upon 6 years in connection with various crimes.

This baffling situation of whether Saman committed this crime in connivance with Kondaya or whether it was done by Saman only and then he tried to trap Kondaya as the criminal has still not been confirmed by the police. The information broadcast by certain media that he had confessed saying that he (Kondaya) had admitted guilt to this murder has still not been confirmed.

In the initial stages the police had mentioned that Kondaya had confessed that this murder murder was committed by him and that it was so done, basing those statements as that of his brother Saman is indeed a humourous matter.

How Saman Jayalath became associated with this murder still remains to be a mystery and the police are trying to obtain his DNA reports and after comparing them would take him into custody in future.
