"Kondaya" acquitted from Seya's rape and murder case

In the five year old Seya Sadewmi's rape and murder case the suspects  Dunesh Priyashantha alias "Kondaya" and his brother Saman Jayalath who were in remand prison were produced

before the Minuwangoda Chief Magistrate today, the 19th instant.

The Chief Magistrate had ordered to release "Dunesh Priyashantha alias "Kodaya" as there wasn't any evidence to prove anything against him for Seya's rape and murder and hence had decided to release him by acquitting him. The DNA reports had revealed that his and Seya Sadewmi's had not agreed.

However the Magistrate did not give the verdict against his brother Saman Jayalath who's DNA samples had agreed that of Seya Sadewmi.The verdict was postposed until the 02nd of November when the case is to be called again.

However Dunesh Priyashantha has two more cases filed against him by the Police. Hence before he was acquitted he had been reminded of these two other cases to be heard.
