Hirunika to bring in the proposal of the capital punishment to the legislature

The Member of Parliament for the Colombo district Hirunika Premachandra is to bring in to the house of legislature the introduction of capital punishment as a proposal today.

The draft resolution is to be tabled today the 06th in Parliament.This has been the brainchild of the Deputy Minister of social empowerment and welfare Ranjan Ramanayake who had requested her to propose it.

In this regard a vote to pass this resolution is needed in Parliament and it has to be made with transparency the Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra had added.

This had arisen a debatable issue especially after the rape and murder of five year old Seya Sadewmi of Kotadeniyawa. In the context of child and women abuses that are happening widely and had made the President also to seriously to  contemplate on bringing capital punishment.
