Two secrets President revealed ....

        having come to UNP Celebrations!

President Maithripala Sirisena who attended the 69th Anniversary Celebrations of the UNP yesterday held at Sirikotha Party Headquarters exposed two political secrets hitherto not revealed.

Yesterday he revealed one such secret which he brought into memory which was that on the occasion of how when the security and the chauffeurs had gone away isolating him at his residence asking him not to attend the final public Presidential rally scheduled to be held at Maradana on the night of January 5th Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe had arrived at his premises and escorted him. On that particular day he had attended a number of meetings including those held in Embilipitiya, Kalutara and Moratuwa and that the last meeting organised where he was to attend was in Maradana. However, when the President arrived at his residence his security and chauffeurs after pointing out security precautions had told him, "sir ... we can never let you go for the Maradana meeting". So saying they had left him isolated at home, which he recalled.

On that occasion Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe had given him a telephone call and told him, "we are waiting for your arrival sir". He had then responded saying that he is not in a position to come to Maradana because by that time there were no security or drivers available; at which moment he was told, "nobody is necessary ... I'll come and take you" and that in a few minutes he had arrived together with MP Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka at his home, the President recalled. 

Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe had thus gone among the masses from place to placeg raising his hands high saying, "there's no danger to your life at our meeting", the President mentioned. "That day Ranil Wickremasinghe behaved like a 20 or 25 year old boy, President Maithripala Sirisena further added. 

Revealing the second secret the President yesterday said, "the present Prime Minister had not spoken and discussed for even a second prior to 22nd November about forwarding me as a candidate for the Presidential Election. This is the absolute truth that I am saying. When I was in my Seat as a Minister in parliament Ranil Wickremasingha gave me a signal with his eye and made a hint to him'let's go now'. It was arranged to go in that manner to Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranaike's residence. That was for the last discussion of appearing for the Presidential Election", the President disclosed. 

As such, as soon as he and Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe had got into their vehicles and were just passing the pond opposite the parliament a chopper had come and that if there was a delay of a few minutes his journey would have been prevented by the person in the chopper, the President said. Even though if a delay of a few hours had taken place the journey they had envisaged could under no circumstances be prevented by anybody, the President finally said.
