DIG absconding for treasure hunting charges  surrenders

The other day the Deputy Inspector General of Police UK.Dasanayake who was charged for the controversial treasure hunting charges and was absconding arrest had emerged from his hide out and  had surrendered to the Police. After he had surrendered yesterday he had been remanded until the

23rd of this month.

This instruction had been made by the  Colombo Additional Magistrate. It is reported that he had together with some millionaire businessmen had engaged in the exercise of treasure hunting in the Vavuniya area. When he was accused of this controversial exercise he had attempted to bury the investigations it is reported.

The Inspector General of Police had instructed to arrest him as he had to a great extent tarnished the good image of the Police department. Since this order was made he had been absconding for a number of days and gone into hiding.

In this connection altogether seven millionaire businessmen have been taken into custody by the police authorities.
