Kaduwela - Kadawatha Highway Opening incident -- Updates

Prasanna goes to police to see .... women who cut the Highway ribbon

Two followers of Mahinda engaged in an act of sabotage recently in cutting the ribbon and shouting 'Mahindata jayawewa" even before Minister Kiriella was to declare open the Kaduwela - Kadawatha Highway Outer Circular Road at the scheduled auspicious time. 

The two of them were arrested by police at that moment for having thus behaved in a manner of sabotaging proceedings in the presence of a distinguished gathering. It later came to be known that this act could have been carried out to satisfy the wants of some politician. One of these two women happened to be the chairwoman of the Women's Organisation of the SLFP Matara branch, known as Sumana Jayasuriya while the other who came for her support in this connection was a member of the same organisation. 

Whatever it is, while they were detained at Kadawatha Police MP Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga had visited them to see how they fared. Prasanna who inquired about their welfare, on addressing the media had remarked that what had happened was that these women had done so for the affection they had for Mr. Mahinda and that it was justified on their part. Whatever it is, Prasanna said that it was something they should not have done, according to his personal opinion. He further said that he spoke to Minister Kiriella about the matter and that he in turn had responded saying it was not an issue. Whatever on that occasion he had brought back to memory that he himself could not discard the fellowship with Mahinda and that in the future he would be taking his seat in the Opposition and that in another two years he hopes get a post as a Minister under Mahinda rule.
