Dead body of girl missing in Kotadeniyaya Gampaha ... found!

While police investigations were in progress over the 5 year old girl from Kotadeniyaya Area in Gampaha who was missing since last morning her nude dead body has been found this morning on the banks of a stream close to her house.

It is learned that this child, Seya Sandewimi by name was the second of three children in the family. She was a pre-school student. It was day-before-yesterday night that she was missing from home. She had been sleeping in the home in Badalgama, Akarangaha, Welipaara with her grandmother, that night. Seya was living with 6 members in the family including her mother and father. Day-before-yesterday night the child had been watching TV in the company of her brothers and had retired to bed around eight. At the time the child went to sleep her father had not been in the house and when her grandfather and grandmother returned home after attending a funeral it had been about 10.30 in the night, it was reported. Even by that time the door of the main entrance had not been locked and the door was kept unlocked until the father of the girl arrived, the householders mentioned. Whatever it is, the inmates had not noticed that she had disappeared in the night. It was only the following day morning when the householders began looking for the small child that she was found missing from the house.

As soon as the incident was brought to the notice of the law enforcement agency, investigations were launched by the police with the aid of police dogs. The dogs had travelled about 100 metres forward from the house concerned and had once again travelled back about 100 metres and stopped. Several police teams had attempted to investigate about it and it was this morning that they were successful in finding the girl in a lifeless condition.  

The dead body was found naked and it was recovered in front of Akaranga Co-operative Store from the banks of Aravindawaththa Canal. The police suspect that the girl had been murdered by someone and they have launched an investigation in search of the suspects.

Sandewimi who was born on September 16th in the year 2010 was brutally murdered only a few days before her fifth birthday.
