when 'Kodaya' taken for medical examination

Kondaya who accepted that he was guilty of the crime of murdering Seya Sandewmi of Kotadeniyawa was taken for a special Judicial

Medical Examination yesterday (25) to the Negombo District Medical Office amidst strong police security and a large crowd who were aware that he was being brought, happened to surround the place.

Though the police did not allow the public to get close to the suspect, later when he was escorted from the place, the crowd had released their anger by attacking the vehicle. Kondaya in fact was produced before the Chief Judicial Medical Officer, Dr. M.N. Ruhul by the CID as a medical report on components of his body were necessary according to legal procedures. On that occasion Dunesh Priyashantha alias (32) Kondaya was escorted by 10 armed police officers to Negombo Hospital and because the public in the area were gathering in a tensed mood, the police had to exert much effort to rescue him from the people.

The police took steps to cover Kondaya's face and body when he was taken for the medical examination to the hospital. Though the public had gathered in large numbers even on the second day on information received that he was being brought to confirm evidence at the Akaranga place of the incident near Seya's house, anticipating a situation of a disturbance, the police had postponed the journey.
