Why fatal patient was not sent to hospital in Manusha's cab ....

A motor cyclist died as a result of an accident between a cab and motor cycle which took place last evening in Imaduwa area, Galle. Within this cab was Manusha Nanayakkara contesting the election  this time and his driver who was at the steering-wheel.  

A video taken at the moment of the said accident records that no one had come forward to take the victim concerned who was on the throes of death, to the hospital. Even Manusha had not taken the patient to hospital. Though steps were taken to admit him to hospital, by that time the person had breathed his last. The victim was a 76 year old person living in Pusselkada area in Imaduwa named Ranepura Hewage Gunaratna. 

Though the victim had been conscious after the accident, the fact that Manusha had foregone the opportunity to take the victim to hospital, has by now been subjected to criticism. In order to clarify matters, Manusha Nanayakkara has called for a press meeting. 

                                                                             "At the time we were travelling, a motor cyclist who came in a hurry trying to overtake a bus, struck our vehicle and it ended up as an accident. At that moment we tried our best, but it was not possible to avoid the accident. Together with this incident I went to  the police station and produced my driver. Simultaneously I also took measures to take the patient to hospital. But already false opinion is being circulated across among social websites in the internet". A question was posed by the media as to whether an attempt was made to take the patient to hospital to which he replied saying, "Though we asked help in a big way to take him to hospital from nearby people nobody came forward to give us any support. The vehicle in which I travelled was  then not in a motorable condition and could not be driven as such. The gas balloons in it had started functioning and it was in a state where the vehicle had to be dragged away.This incident had been videoed and even released by United National Party candidate Chandralal Abeygoonawardena and his group. They had been travelling at that place and though we solicited help from them, apart from videoing they gave no helping hand. At that time I was travelling in a solitary vehicle and I had no array of vehicles. At that moment my vehicle was not in a condition where it could be driven and in the end the patient had to be hospitalised in a three-wheeler going on the road. I too went to the police and the hospital in a motor cycle closeby.
