Vehicle used in the shooting at Wolfendhal street is from a rent-a-car institute

The officers of criminal investigation department who had commenced investigations into the

shooting incident which took place a few days ago at Wolfendhal street Kotahena when a group of supporters of the Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake were shot at claiming two lives and injuring about 15 others.It has now been revealed that the car had been obtained on rent basis from a rent-a- car institute.

The owner of the car after coming to realize that the car used in the shoot out had been found abandoned near the Wolfendhal flats had called on the criminal investigation unit and confessed on the 3rd instant and said that he was the owner of that car and had been given to a reputed rent a car institute for a monthly rent.

The owner is a resident of Talangama area.He had given his car to a rent -a -car institute some months back.When the the officers of the criminal investigation unit had checked the identity card numbers had found that these identity card numbers  and other documents were all fake identity cards and documents.

From the car  which is a dark green luxury vehicle the investigators have found a T 56 rifle with bullets and a revolver.The officers of the criminal investigation unit have found out that these people are well known murderers who are in this type of activities.

With this information the criminal investigation unit is looking after capturing this group.It has revealed that to date a number of eye witnesses and others have been questioned to apprehend those involved in this shooting.
