REJECT PREDICTING ABOUT THOSE WHO WIN GENERAL ELECTION
Several competent local Astrologers vouched that Mahinda would be victorious at the last Presidential Elections and thus created a great sensation. There
were two such individuals who exclaimed that they were prepared to commit suicide if their predictions did not come to pass. Soon after the results were announced what they did was hide their faces saying utter bunkum, thus misleading the public. As a result they complained and protested that their businesses had dropped and that the subject of Astrology was demeaned, it was reported.
The Sunday Mawbima Newspaper tried to inquire from them once again as to who would clinch victory at this General Election, but most of these competent Astrologers had shied away, it was learned. What Sumanadasa Abeygunawardena who misled the former President said was that since the prediction he made last time went wrong he would make no more political predictions in future. In the meantime Chandrasiri Bandara who challenged that if his prediction went astray he would set himself on fire did not even take the chance of answering the telephone and what his wife had said was that her husband now refrains from making political predictions anymore.
Perhaps because of the dislike to keep craving for averse repercussions, had tried to follow a silent policy, it was observed. What Mr. Piyasena Rathuvithana had said was that since he was a Mahinda-man, it would be meaningless to make predictions. In the meantime Manjula Peiris too could not be contacted over the phone. What Chintha Wickremasingha had said was that making political predictions was a risky matter and so she would not respond.
