The party and symbol under which Mahinda would contest would be known by 4 PM today

It is very reliably reported that the loyalists of the Mahinda faction

are to congregate at the popular Abeyarama Temple premises in Narahenpita, would reveal the symbol and party under which the Mahinda faction would contest in the forthcoming general election.

This would be made known via a media briefing. It is also reported that the President Maithripala Sirisena had not consented for the former president to contest under the United Freedom Alliance party which is affiliated with several minority parties.

In this contest Mahinda Rajapaksa would have to contest from an alternate party. The party from which is would contest and the symbol of that party would be made known this evening at 4 pm at the press briefing to be held at the Abeyarama Temple premises.
