On the matter of claiming damages for defamation - reply from Anura Kumara to Mahinda 

Addressing an election propaganda meeting in Beruwala on the 26th instant the leader of the

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Anura Kumara Dissanayake had said that a group of attorneys at law of Mahinda Rajapaksa had sent letter of demand to him claiming defamation.In this connection he had this to say:

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was once a Member of Parliament, then was a Minister, then an Opposition leader ,then a Prime Minister and twice President and now he is contests again to become a Member of Parliament. His group of lawyers had said that he had insulted him and hence would file action to claim damages from him.He had said that he too likes to come to courts to meet him and to divulge the activities of his entire family, most of whom have been questioned for theft. He dad said by coming back to politics he and his family members could escape from been punished.
