OIC’s of Police stations who go to ‘boutique’ for their area candidates to be sent on immediate transfer

Gamini Nawaratne appointed to coordinate activities of a fair forthcoming general election had cautioned all Officers in charge of Police stations not to get involved with the activities of the politicians who are contesting from their police areas. In the event if any of they do get involved would be punished with immediate transfers from their existing stations.

Further and consequent to the immediate transfers’ disciplinary action also would be initiated against those found guilty.

It had been brought to his notice that even to date certain Officers in Charge of Police stations he has received complaints about a few and in this connection discreet investigations are been conducted to find the truth of these complaints.

In this regard the senior deputy inspector general of Police Gamini Nawaraten had requested the general public to report to him if such instances are found committed by the OIC’s of the Police stations.
