To record a statement on pistol water bottle story Namal to CID

The other day at a SLFP rally in Angunukolapelessa a security

personnel was found to have had a pistol in his possession while standing close to the president Maithripala Sirisena. The security personnel had been on duty for the Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa. The son of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa  had come to the criminal investigation unit to give a statement this morning to give a statement for the ongoing investigations that are been conducted in this regard.

In this connection the Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa was questioned by the media had denied the allegation. Later he had said that what the security guard had possessed was only a water bottle.

However on investigating it had revealed that the army security guard had possessed a pistol and because of it several army officers had been transferred. It had also prompted the army to withdraw army personnel from the president’s security division.
