Staff Members in Presidential secretariat given transfer orders
An exercise has begun to transfer certain members of the presidential secretariat staff cadre to other
government departments.
Out of a staff of around one thousand members, initially four hundred members are planned to be transferred to bring down the cadre seventy members of the staff had been transferred out to other government institutions.
During last week another fifty members have been issued with transfer orders. In addition it is reported that sixty five more members have been listed out to be given transfers.
When the new president Maithripala Sirisena was elected it was his view that the presidential secretariat unit is over staffed by adding staff members above the cadre during the previous regime.
It is also learnt that some from other government departments are to be transferred into the presidential secretariat. However those who had been transferred have quipped that to transfer them at this time of the year is baseless.
