Former distinguished cricketer Mutthiah Muralitharan expressed his

views about players coming into politics at the festival held at Vihara Maha Devi Park by UNICEF day-before-yesterday (27).

Question: Did you get an invitation to come into politics?

Muralitharan: Even if I am invited, I won't come forward to canvass for my votes. By coming into politics .... it damages the image of a player. Because of that I won't come for politics in any Party. Don't come .... anyone of you.

Question: There is a rumour that the super cricketer Kumar Sangakkara is coming into politics. Do you know about it?

Muralitharan: Kumar Sangakkara won't come forward for the General Election. He has already signed an agreement with a foreign country to play for two years. It's only a rumour that Sangakkara is coming into politics.
