Maithri did not meet Mahinda yesterday!

The President Media Unit has issued an announcement this afternoon (26) that news published in the
media that President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Mahinda had met last night at the Speaker's official residence is false.

Emergency meeting between Mahinda and Maithri last night
9.07 a.m.
It is learned that an emergency meeting was held between President Maithripala and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa last night (25). Matters discussed at this discussion which had gone on for a period of about an hour at the Speaker's Official Residence has not been disclosed. However, political sources reveal that since there had been various problems concerning Mahinda as well as Maithri during the past few days it is assumed that this confrontation would have taken place in order to resolve those issues.
It is also reported that no one else was present at this meeting except the President and the former President.
It was also exposed that prior to this meeting being held, a function had been arranged at Chief Minister of Western Province, Prasanna Ranatunga's official residence and former President Mahinda too had participated in it when an emergency call was received by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa around 9.30 in the night when he had set of from there in order to meet Maithri to the Speaker's official residence, sources reveal.
