A threewheeler which came last evening at a terrific
speed and in an agitated manner close to Palliyawatta Bridge, Wattala had met with an accident colliding with another threewheeler. In that instance the occupants inside had straightened up the threewheeler and had tried to beat a retreat.
Usually when an accident takes place both parties would have a discussion about it; since this particular suspicious vehicle had tried to flee the villagers had stopped the threewheeler and pulled out the occupants inside the vehicle. On that occasion, astounding those round there had been able to observe a person drenched with blood and three others who had been travelling inside it and incidentally one of them was a dead person while two others had been with injuries. The police then intervened on that occasion and the two injured who were highly intoxicated were sent to Ragama Hospital while investigations were begun on the the dead person. It was revealed at initial investigations that three young men who were bathing in Hendala Preethipura Beach area had been travelling in this manner.
While returning in the threewheeler after being highly intoxicated, the said threewheeler had initially toppled at Palliyawatta Church area in Hendala. It was on that occasion that those who were driving the threewheeler had sustained injuries or had died at that moment. The other two had mounted him too into the vehicle and one person had been driving the vehicle coming in the direction of Wattala when the threewheelr has once again collided with two other threewheelers and had thereby faced the second accident on which occasion the vehicle had toppled. At that moment the two injured had once again started the threewheeler and had made an attempt to go forward when the public had stopped them and had directed them to the police.
This accident had occured at about 3 in the afternoon yesterday. The deceased was one Sajith Ashok aged 32 years. The two who had been warded in hospital are two brothers by the names of Sathasivam Sathish Kumara (24) and Sathasivam Dinesh Kumara (28), both of the same family. The deceased Sajith Ashok had been working at an iron-workshop. He had died of serious injuries sustained on the head.
Police investigations are continuing.
