Car mechanic who assemble cars with spare parts nabbed in Kurunegala

The corruption prevention police unit of Waymba

province has been able to apprehend a car mechanic who has been assembling super luxury vehicles using spare parts imported from various countries. This raid had been carried on the 01st instant in the Kurunegala, Maraluwawa area. They had raided on a tip off where a mechanic had been engaged in this malpractice inside a house. The police had been able to find two such super luxury cars that were assembled parked in a garage in that house which was raided.

One of the vehicles was a Toyota Allion 240 model and the other super luxury car was a Mercedes Benz 200/80 model. At the time of the raid it is reported that in both vehicles fictitious number plates had been fixed and ready to be sold at exorbitant prices.

A vehicle of these models is sold in the market for rupees 100 lakhs but the police have revealed that the racketeer sells them for only rupees 12 lakhs.It has been also revealed that the suspect arrested in a car mechanic who had worked in Japan in this field for a number of years.

During the past few years he had successfully assembled such super luxury cars and sold them to buyers in various parts of the country. This information had been revealed during police investigations.
