The court-hearing of case relating to incident of threatening the police by Hambantota 'toy pistol'

mayor Eraj Fernando was taken up yesterday and he was ordered to be remanded until 20th May.

The mayor who held onto his chest complaining of a pain was found leaning on a chair and the lawyers who addressed the prison officers had said that the mayor had suddenly become ill and since he was suffering from a serious pain in his chest that he be admitted to Hambantota General Hospital for treatment instead of being taken to Tangalla Prison. As such, Eraj Fernando who was upto then in prison yesterday entered hospital following suit of politicians getting sick these days.

The most humorous scene in this connection was the mayor who reported of a chest pain subsequently getting into the prison bus with hands raised amidst great applause without displaying any form of discomfort, waving his hands to his supporters with a big smile on his face from inside the bus.
