Obscene remarks by Vasudeva Nanayakkara in parliament ....

Senior MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara who stood up to bring
forward a point of rule at the time the parliament was being adjourned yesterday was involved in an argument with Premier Ranil Wickremasingha and had begun to shout by using a derogatory word starting with "p ...." amidst mockery which came from the other side of the House and MP Sumedha Jayasena was seen blushing with her cheeks red.  The Speaker then advised saying that children were present to view proceedings of the parliament. The exchange of words that ensued at that moment is as follows:

                             

Premier: I am reading the third page of the report. Sit down for a while. To reply .... doesn't know even what I am reading.

Vasudeva Nanayakkara: Point of order .... point of order. Wait a moment men ... when a point of order has been mentioned.  Aney ...... wait without playing oy. Not even willing to listen. Can you 'ohe' .... capable of making me sit?

Speaker: Member of Parliament .... Vasudeva Nanayakkara!

Vasudeva Nanayakkara: Won't listen to point of order. When you the Speaker give me permission this man is going at a rate .... going at a rate. Make this fool sit down .... make this fool sit down.  To make me sit down? Can 'umba' able to make me sit down? .... can't make me sit down .... don't play the hell 'oy' ... we respect the parliament. What I ask you 'obathuma' is whether can one 'pissu kelinna' like this.

Speaker: There are school children in the gallery. This will become a habit.
