Basil too deploys Gota’s shrew tactic of Supreme Court FR redress
The former Minister of economic development Basil Rajapaksa who is remanded for alleged misappropriation of
government funds and is under the pretext of heath issues is treated at the Merchant’s paying ward in the General hospital.
It is learnt that on the 20th instant Basil Rajapaksa too had adopted the same shrew tactic of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa by submitting a similar Human Rights petition to the Supreme Court citing the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and 45 others of the cabinet in the parliament as respondents.
What is stated in the petition is that via a gazette notification which is illegal, by establishing the Police Financial Crimes Investigation unit, remanding him through an order made by the Magistrate of district court, Kaduwela. Citing this as illegal Basil Rajapaksa has submitted his fundamental rights petition requesting redress to have his bail application to Magistrate District court Kaduwela, be given the green light, through an interim order.
