Weerawansha who became the focus of some confusion because of a case relating to a false passport problem sometime back and when she was about to be taken into custody, had developed a sudden ear-problem whereby she admitted herself to hospital and took treatment. The condition she was in that circumstance motivated the public to feel terribly sorry for her especially when she was hugging her children and crying.

Among comrades who came to inquire about her when she was under police custody in hospital was the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
