Proposal to allow duty free permits for MP’s by new Minister squashed

The new Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena who was appointed as a Minister only the other

day had proposed to the cabinet to allow all Members of Parliament to import duty free vehicles by issuing of permits. This proposal had been made in mid last week when the parliament sat.

The president Mathripala Sirisena had squashed this proposal that this is not the time for such a proposal to allow such permits.
