Mysterious dead bodies of Indian couple ....

in room of Wellawatta hotel!

Dead bodies of an Indian couple were found last night inside a hotel in Wellawatta last night. On a

tip off given to the police by the manager of a hotel situated at No. 7 down 40th Lane in Wellawatta where the couple had been lodging, the dead bodies of the couple were found last night inside their room. The two dead were a lady of 28 years and a man aged 31 years.

The said couple who had arrived in Sri Lanka from India last Friday the 27th had come to stay at this hotel. According to the particulars furnished to the hotel, they were married. Though it was recorded  at the entry office that they had been in and out of the hotel; but after they locked their room on Wednesday night they had not come out the whole of Thursday and since they had not shown any response to external signals of the hotel staff, the manager had then made use of a duplicate key for the purpose of inspecting the room. Later when he had opened the door in the company of his staff the dead bodies of the couple were found. It was in this manner that the police were alerted about the incident.

The post-mortem has still not been conducted. However, police say that on external investigation they suspect this could be a case of suicide. Further investigations on the incident are underway.
