Information exposed by the notorious drug-dealer Wele Suda who is presently under custody

had received wide publicity across the media and simultaneously news circulated that there were 6 popular tele-actresses who had helped him in his drug-trafficking. However, police reports have still not divulged as to who those 6 are and  either had any media published those names. In the rush, a certain youth, unemployed and spending his time at home had published names of 6 actresses whom he suspected under the title 'Here are the names of the 6 actresses' by utilising the accompanying curiosity on a page in the Facebook which he happened to be maintaining.

This youth has used a sharp strategy to give this false piece of news possibly by weaving it with a touch of reality by writing there, that some actresses have now disappeared while some others have left the island. Because of the advantage that any matter could be circulated easily these days across the Facebook, the young man's imagination had rapidly exchanged among others. Those who saw it thought that these 6 females had maintained connections with Wele Suda. In the process, a number of irresponsible websites copying anything that catches the eye with the idea of popularizing the website without inquiring about any matter, had published this Facebook news item in their websites. As a result the young man's lie circulated further.

After about a week after this sensation, the referred to actresses had faced much discomfort among their friends and had even received telephone calls incessantly being questioned, "Ah ... you had dealings with Wele Suda on the sly .... didn't you?"  Semini Gayesha and Lochana Imashi who were the most inconvenienced in this respect went ahead in issueing statements to the media making an appeal asking to get an understanding about this false news item.

Semini and Lochana had conducted a media briefing in this respect at Sovereign Hotel in Rajagiriya while Dilhani Ekanayaka and others including Nadeeka Gunasekera accompanied by several artistes had been present on that occasion.

Semini also mentioned that she had taken steps to call the youth concerned with this incident to the police and be advised. Though he had removed the news item from his page during those days itself; but because still that news item is being exchanged over social media and websites, Semini said that she had thought of calling for a news discussion. Lochana Imashi who is preparing to enter into marriage in a few weeks' time stated that her image has been tarnished because of this incident.
