For the extension of the Southern Express Highway

from Matara to Hambantota,the related authorities of the previous government it has now been revealed those firms who did advisory work on the extension of the Southern Express Highway from Matara to Hambantota. The previous government had paid a colossal some of rupees 124 million per Kilometre of the proposed Highway to private firms as consultation charges.

The advisory charges thus paid had been without adopting to the usual tender procedure thereby it had been proved to be a huge wastage of public money had been made. The present government is deeply investigating into this huge malpractice and are very adamant to bring all culprits to book and give them the maximum punishment.
