that wove 'cheeththa katha' about President's brother Priyantha's murder

President's brother Priyantha Sirisena who faced a serious blow from an axe at approximately 7 last

Thursday night at Hathare Ela area in Polonnaruwa succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning at the hospital.

After this incident, some people had woven stories that the  root cause behind this incident was an illicit affair while what the police exposed about this was that this person called Lakmal who was living with his mother, father and 3 children has had a strong bond of friendship with Priyantha for sometime and later had not been on good terms with Priyantha over a business matter and the closest reason for this fatal incident was that the President's brother had gone to Lakmal's house where he had created a commotion by assaulting Lakmal's father and mother. But on Thursday night, the day of the incident itself what certain websites had published was that this assault was committed after an illicit affair was caught red-handed. Lakmal's wife too had been dragged into this incident. Those websites had even mentioned that since the President's brother is responsible for such an assault would be a demeaning factor the police and the media had covered up the situation. However the media who had made up this story had hidden the fact that Lakmal's wife did not reside in the house closeby where the attack on Priyantha took place. Later it was revealed by the police too that Lakmal's wife was away in Middle East , working there.

The Grama Niladhari, Kumara Ratnayaka of Weera Pedesa, where this crime happened issued a special statement to the effect that this story that has been woven up by certain websites and was done with the purpose of slinging mud from a political angle and that Lakmal was staying with his parents while his wife had left him and gone and lived in Nittambuwa for sometime after which she had left to the Middle East 3 months before this.
