Kshenuka’s appointment as Ambassador to Thailand on hold
The former secretary to the Ministry of Foreign affairs Kshenuka Seneviratne was appointed as
the ambassador to Thailand.Her appointment to the Ministry of foreign affairs had been made initially to serve in foreign service as she possess qualifications to serve in foreign service. There had been a number of protests for her appointment as there had been some allegations that she had during her tenure of service as the Sri Lanka’s permanent representative in Geneva, Switzerland that as a contract to repair the official bungalow of the permanent representative had been to LTTE supporter.
Her matter was not taken up for discussion at the parliamentary select committee on appointments to high positions, when met recently. However the deputy Minister of foreign affairs, Ajit P.Perera had vouched that her case would be taken for discussion at the next meeting in Parliament and until then her appointment would be held on hold. This has been made owing to protests made by JVP members and many others against her appointment as ambassador to Thailand.
