Kshanika’s husband is refusing to tender resignation from post of a Vice Chancellor Colombo University:

One of the Vice Chancellor’s of the Colombo University is Kumar Hiriburegama who is the husband of Kshanika Hiriburegama the

former Chairman of the University Grants Commission.After the new government came into power the Chairman of the UGC Kshanika Hiriburegama was under terrific pressure from many requesting her to resign from her post as Chairman of the UGC. She was resistant for some moments and later she resigned from her post.

It is learnt that she had been one of the Vice Chancellor’s of the Colombo University before she was appointed as the Chairman of the University Grants Commission which appointment some say was purely political and she had manipulated a for the place of a Vice Chancellor for her husband Kumar Hiriburegama through influence from the Rajapaksa family as she had been distantly related.This was known to other Vice Chancellors and the academic staff who now had called for his resignation too. But he too is offering  stiff resistance against those against him.The other Vice Chancellors and the academic staff have protested against him by cordoning around his office located at College House premises.
