Keheliya, Arundika, Manusha among those who join UNP from SLFP at General Elections?
It is reported that popular personalities of the previous regime are to contest on the UNP ticket
by abandoning the SLFP at the forthcoming General Election.
They are at present keeping mum and are expected to come forward for the nominations of the UNP when the General Elections draw nigh. It is also understood that these characters are those who did not give support for the no-confidence motion against Minister John recently. Who are these persons who are ready to make the jump?
Among names announced from unofficial sources are Keheliya Rambukwella of Kandy District and Arundika Fernando of Puttalam District in the forefront. Apart from them, Manusha Nanayakkara from Galle District and another from Chilaw District have been quoted. It is of special interest to note that all of them had earlier been from the UNP.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam yesterday revealed at the UNP media confrontation that a number of progressive politicians from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party would be contesting under the United National Party ticket at the next elections.
