In future International schools would require standards certificates - Akila

The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has announced that in future all

International schools need to obtain a standards certificate in order to continue school activities.

To monitor the proper activities in International schools in this regard a committee has been appointed.The Minister stressed that the motive of running International schools should not be profit oriented and as a business intended one.

The teachers in the International schools should be qualified personnel,the International schools should possess facilities like library ,playing fields,the number of class rooms and the number of students who should be accommodated in a classroom will be taken into top consideration.These would be monitored and checked by the related committee appointed.

In this contest the Ministry of education would focus attention on these matters with the International schools.However to get these rectified, the Ministry of education would give the existing International school some period of time.

As in India and in other developed countries it is suggested to offer scholarships and to give free education for selected students was added further by the Minister of education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.
