collapsed and burst after which one person had disappeared day before yesterday. After a period of about 30 hours' search with the assistance of a bacho machine, the missing person's dead body was found around 5.15 this morning.
The dead person was a youth of 24 years named Harshana Thillekerathna living in Moneragala. It was said that dhal imported to this country is husked in this factory after which the dhal is exported to India and Pakistan. The employees there said that the dhal brought by containers is stored in this tank with the aid of a pomp and that dhal which are brought in 40 containers 20 feet in length could be stored there; however when this unfortunate accident took place as a surplus quantity of about 60 containers were stored there then resulted in the tank bursting, not being able to bear the volume.
Since the majority of the guards on watch-duty that night when this incident took place had been away for dinner, those who were actually present were minimum. Police personnel from Kelaniya and 5 other police stations around the area including soldiers of the special battalion of Panagoda army camp contributed their efforts in search operations of the missing youth.
